ok, cleaned my lorry out today so i could take some photos for an ad etc and while i was at it thought id take the mats up and have a look at the floor.. ( before i say anymore i would like to point out that it hasnt had a horse on it for a few months) anyway the floor has started to rot down both the long sides and IMO needs replacing, like now! The bottom floor according to mechanic is sound.I have 3 options , sell it cheap (which i was planning to do anyway as it is redundant, i do drive it about to keep it ticking over etc) and say in the advert that its needs a new floor before you put a horse in it.
get a new floor put in which will prob cost around a grand which i dont have.
or do it myself, which im sure i could do with some guidance, BIL is a carpenter by trade but he probably wont help!
i guess my question is would you buy a lorry if it was cheap enough and replace the floor yourself or would you want to be able to use it straight away?
lorry stats and a few pics so you can see if its worth advertising it.
ford cargo 813, F reg, MOT til end oct, 6 months tax. stalled for 4, (would be overweight with 4 on it though) cut through cab, sleeps 4, hob,sink,fridge,tv/dvd (no ariel so can only watch dvd, loads of storage, large space between horses and living with bridle hooks, saddle racks and hanging space. skirt lockers. not bad condition for its age,few rust spots starting to appear here and there but not in any significant places. i guess id be looking to get £2500 if i dont do the floor but if i have to beg a grand to do it then id probably be asking £4 to £5 grand (as the general consensus seems to be on here ) for it? it also needs a new window in the horse part as moose pushed the original out but i will replace that before its sold. OR do i add option 4 ,say sod it and scrap the flipping thing!
