Hi!
have a 2010 daf cf 18ton horsebox which was used for a stay away last week and worked fine! Now today will not start yet everything else works in the cab?! Tried jumping it with a jump box and it just trips the box after a few minutes, surely If flat battery other stuff wouldn’t come on? And surely it wouldn’t be flat after only a week of not using it? Any other suggests?
thanks!

Is your jump box a 24v? A standard 12v wont do anything to a lorry battery.

How does the lorry turn off? Mine had a lever you had to pull and if that was even slightly pulled nothing would start.

Have you turned the isolator off? The leisure battery will power lights etc in the cab but won’t be enough to start the lorry

The jump box is 12volted I have suggested maybe jumping off another lorry?!
No lever just key in and turn to start, yeah isolator on and off and still not wanted to start, just seems odd that only a week ago it was all fine and dandy!

It is sounding like flat battery. You need to jump or boost from a 24v source.

How old are the batteries? Batteries on horse boxes often don’t last more than a couple of years because they aren’t treated well. We’ve lost several sets of batteries on buses recently because the buses were laid up for the best part of six months.

Hoping I can get a mechanic out short notice as even if it’s simple we don’t want to start trying to tilt the cab ourselves! Partner said about stater
Motor but didn’t want to start playing around with bits we have no knowledge of
no idea how old they are tbh lorry is 2010 so suppose they could be originals and have come to end of there life?
