Hi, I would just like to know what people mean when they ask me if my lorry is hook up? I know it is plugging into electric when you stay overnight but I have my lorry advertised and someone has asked me if it is electric hook up! It has a generator and a 3 pin plug is plugged into this from the lorry wiring. It is the same plug that is used in the home. Is this for hook up use or does it mean one of those round plugs. Sorry to sound a bit thick but a couple of people have asked this and I just tell them it has a plug! Is mine a hook up.
Thanks.

I could be totally wrong here but I thought it was like what a caravan has to hook up to an external electric supply. If so its a round socket, not like a normal plug socket though. I think its 3 pronged. You then have a lead that connects this socket to the external electric point.
Im interested to see your replies as Ive always wondered too :).

sounds like yours has a hook up which basicly means your living quarters
have some mains equipment like charger for the battery that works the lights and maybe a microwave and plugs for household hair dryers tosters etc so when you are at home or a show with power points you "hook up" so things work in the lorry you should have a blue plug in the side of the lorry and a extention lead you can get adapters to plug it in to a normal domestic socket from a caravan place...

Agree with Perfect11s - people are asking if the lorry has the facility to get it's power source from an external supply throughout a show which would save them running the lorry batteries down or running the generator all the time. We have an on board generator but would opt to "hook up" if possible when staying away as this is a silent and constant power supply.

A correctly fitted hook up system would have the special weather resistant generator type hookup plugs. (These have round pins).
