Lorry MOT testing

I'm trying to book a test date for my horsebox. I started by looking for the VOSA website, but apparently they no longer exist, as they amalgamated with another agency and are now DVSA. So off I went to the DVSA website but couldn't find anything on there about lorry MOTs.
I went back to google and asked it how to book a lorry test. It took me to a page called 'book your lorry test', and I was very pleased, until I typed in my postcode to find the nearest testing station. In Wales. Wales! That's flipping hours away, by road.
My other options are: to trek down to Exeter and try to find the station that's on the Marsh Barton Estate. I've never yet gone there without getting horribly lost, or
pay more and use a private station, somewhere.
Will probably choose the last as at least there is one, close-ish. It's getting more and more difficult to get the test done, no wonder no-one wants to buy my lorry :)
 
Call your mechanic and ask where they take them and how to book in. I once took mine myself and felt a right numpty as obviously didn't understand what I had to do compounded by the fact that I was up in a 7.5t lorry and the bloke shouting at me to do things was in the pit below me.

I now give mine to the mechanic for its yearly service and he takes it for its plating as well.
 
I have done a google search and here are 3 HGV/LGV testing centres in Devon alone. Witheridge,South Molton and Exeter.

I do get my mechanic to take mine though. After mine failed on a defective spray suppression system. To me and you it was dirty mud flaps!!!

He always makes me take it and I am used to the shouting from the pit now LOL!

South Molton is where I used to go but it's closed now apparently.
 
They are changing the system and not for the better .
Our mechanic says it's going to be a complete disaster .
 
There may be Vosa testing centers but they are block booked by the transport companies. You will probably have to go to a commercial garage with testing facilities and pay their ramp fee on top of the plating fee. It sucks frankly and I am strongly thinking of selling my 4.5 tonne and going for a 3.5 tonne lorry so it can go through a MOT not plating.
 
I've just taken mine in today. Testing fee £90, lane fee £45. The only good thing is that you can do a running repair on site which you couldn't at a VOSA centre. Today my spare wheel was loose. That would have been a fail under the old system, but I tightened it up on site, and the lorry passed. Have to say, the test now only takes about 15 mins max, so I think the charges are very steep.
