Hi, I've recently managed to persuade my parents that competing an travelling would be much more civilised if we got a horsebox to replace the trailer.. Trouble is I'm a bit clueless as to which chassis is the best/most reliable etc.
Any advice would be much appreciated!

Also, we are leaning towards buying the chassis seperately and having it converted seperately, does anyone have any experience of this prices etc and does it work out cheaper?

Thanks!

Buying a chassis & having it converted will (unless you have a will of steel) cost you more than buying a finished one, the temptation to add alsorts of extras that at the time cost very little, suddenly become a massive overspend when the bill arrives (it happen to me & has happened to plenty of freinds as well)

Personally I would go for a MAN chassis they are fab.

If you have one converted you are looking at £8000 if you use the standard body. If you have a coachbuilt it will start at around £17000 and the skys the limit.

A decent chasis will cost you from about £9000K upwards for one about 4 years old,

Good luck

My dad is not keen on horses and def not keen on spending much money on them so i doubt the bill would get out of control... Just looking at a very basic conversion, the living area could prob be fitted out by my dad; he can be a handy diy-er if the mood takes him!

I bought my first lorry, a Ford Iveco 6.25t just over two years ago. It was a conversion and touch wood it's been fantastic, starts first time everytime, it's a very easy to drive, clean tidy day living and purchased from a local guy who did conversion. I was advised to go for an Iveco and it's done me proud so far
