Lorry plating question

My plating is due to expire at the end of the month. It has been in for testing and failed on the tacho calibration. It's over at Iveco this morning having this done but and was booked in for this afternoon to be re-tested. Kindly Iveco failed to tell my mechanic the usual tacho guy is away and a standby is coming at 2. Problem being the re-test is at 3

My question is can I use the lorry if it was failed a plating, although it is plated until the end of the month and I have booked and paid for a competition on Monday

If you plate is current then you can still use your lorry, You say it expires at the end of the month so you can use it up to & including 31 August.

If it was a car then the answer would be no - I imagine it's the same for lorries ...
