Lorry Plating

My lorry is not due to be plated until May next year, but I'd like to get it done before the eventing season starts so that it's not off the road for any reason when I need it. I won't need it at all until March, so it seems sensible to get it done in the New Year.

Does anybody know whether I can do that or whether I have to wait until the current plate is up in May?

Yes you can do that and it will run for 12 months from whenever you get it done.

Just asked OH and he said you can have it plated a month before its due

You need to book a date about 3 months in advance.

Peter I was just going to say the same. It is not like taking a car for an MOT and most HGV test stations get booked well in advance.

Most test stations offer out of hours testing ie after 4pm until 6ish on tuesdays and thursdays and also saturday mornings. The test is slightly more expensive but saves queing and waiting time, when ringing up for a test date its worth asking for an out of hours test
