I do that - but for one boy who can be tricky I've also been known to start up, drive round until the engine is beginning to get warm then come back and switch off to load and then restart.
The others all load whether the lorry's running or not.
I used to start mine up, let the air brakes pump up, then pull forward and drive to top of yard to load up.
Have never loaded up while lorry is running tho, but know a few people that do!
We always start it, run it until it's warm then switch it off to load.
that's because ours takes five mins to get the air pressure up and once loaded some horses get cross if we don't move right away and start klcking.
Ahh, my lorry doesn't have air brakes either, so I don't have that problem. I've lost my keys somewhere and really should start the box as it hasn't moved in 2 months.
I start mine when I get to the yard, and lock the cab door with the engine running (Volvos have seperate door and ignition keys) for about 1/2 hour. I won't load with the engine running as I think that is unfair on Charlie.
