one of the little 2.0l petrol horse lorries? If so, how do you get on with them? (ie can they go up hills, etc)

The reason I ask is I have one, but I was going to sell it (never used it as it needed work doing). I'm now thinking of keeping it, but i'm wondering if it will cope ok with my 16.2hh in the back. If anyone has any experience of them, I'd be interested to hear - it's only for local journeys, btw - not up and down the country!

Firstly do check out you're not overweight with horsey and gear in the back!

I used to have a 2.0L petrol Transit horse van. Normally she only went up to 20 miles but she did also do several trips of 60 miles each way. Hills were not fantastic but doable, it was not vey economical.

If you know the van and its reliable then I'd be inclined to keep it. If it's the old style then they just don't seem to make any money and replacing them with something more modern is just not cost effective IMHO.

Thanks for that - I know I won't go anywhere fast (lol) but as long as I get there I'm happy! We won't be overweight as although it's the same size as the 3.5t boxes it's plated at 4.5t

I only want to do trips about 10-15 miles each way and the horsebox man who is looking at it said it is in really good nick for it's age. I know it won't be very economical, but it will still be cheaper that a transport company!!
