Tried to open ramp today on 7.5t lorry and would only open about 2 inches, it wasn't me being weak! I tried to push it from the inside and it still wouldn't go past the 3 inches.

Going to ring company who built it last year to Ask for advice, they are lovely and will help ( we have had it 1.5 years).

Just wanted a heads up as to what might be wrong. Can new springs really just stop working? Haven't opened the back since mid Dec. or will they just need oiling?

It really wouldn't open, it wasn't just stiff?!

Hi

Had a similar problem with my trailer side door ramp a few years ago. It was the hydraulic gas assistor that was cream crackered. Thankfully as trailer was under guaranteed they sent us a new one which was quick and easy to fit.

Be careful as mentioned!!

If the springs have gone which can happen it will come crashing down and on top of anything in its way. Quite a few people have sadly died or had brain damage by falling ramps.

Get a can of silocone spray from HGV mechanics.

Just spray and spray and spray every single bit interally and using the long nozzle on the can.

Leave it for about 30 mins +

The safest way would be to push it open from the inside of the horse section making sure someone outside shouts and stands guard and keeps everyone away! Shout timber!

Good luck! Hopefully with all the damp and lack of use its just seized big time!

But also check the sides of your ramps as they may have also swelled stopping it from coming down
