Hello,

Can anyone shed any light on lorry (chassis) specs?

I've just started to look in to the possibility of getting a lorry and I've found a V reg Daf 150, but the 150 bit is a bit baffling at the mo...! I'm off to do some research, but thought someone maybe able to answer this one...?

I can potentially get one built on either a Daf or Iveco so any opinions will be gratefully received!

The 150 means 150bhp - whereas a 130 wouldn't be as powerful at 130bhp etc.
On the Iveco's the 75 means 7.5 tonne and the number following is the engine size in bhp so a 15 is 150 bhp and 17 is 170 bhp. There doesn't seem to be a constant set of terminology!
I believe Iveco's are better in terms of access to the engine. If you are having a luton built and fixed to the cab (rather than retaining the tilt facility), then an Iveco would be better as the seats can be removed and you can access the engine under the seats, saving on having to always have the lorry over a pit for any maintainence. Mind, if you can afford to have a luton with a tilt facility then this would be the best option.
On a personal level, i'd choose an Iveco or if I could afford, maybe one of the better wagons like a MAN.

yes , 150 is 150 BHP , thats the minimum pulling capacity you would require to do the job of a 7.5 tonne horsebox- its a 4 cylinder and that should easily pull payload on 7.5 tonne ( 130 doesnt do the job at all) . if you need anymore advie PM me
 
Have to disagree about the 130 not doing the job. My yard's at the top of a VERY steep, narrow lane. I have absolutely no problem roaring up the hill even when I have to stop half way up to let traffic past. I have never felt that the lorry lacked power at all. I love my Leyland DAF
