Hi all, not sure where to post this. But I am just wondering if anyone has experienced similar. I have been searching for months for my dream pony, lots of disappointments, etc, etc, then the most perfect mare came along I paid my deposit and paid for a vetting. The day before she was due to be delivered, the seller backed out of the sale. I am truely heartbroken. Has anyone else experienced this, as I now don’t even feel confident that a deposit will secure my forever best friend. The deposit seems to provide security of a sale for the seller, but not for the buyer.

Thanks
Victoria x

Make sure that you get your deposit and the cost of the vetting back from the seller. Then remember that the seller (if i tis a private seller) knows the horse much better than you and has obviously decided that after all, doesn't want to lose their 'best friend'. The horse certainly isn't your best friend until you have known it for some time.

I completely feel where your coming from - I've been searching for nearly a year now and thought I had found the one. Ticked all of the boxes and was the kindest soul but sadly failed the vetting :( it feels like its never going to happen but I'm a firm believer in everything happens for a reason. The right horse will come along at the right time and it definitely not worth rushing into the wrong horse. It will all be worth it in the end!

"The right horse will come along at the right time" - I do believe this but at the same time I think it's only fair to acknowledge that the market is a bit mad at the moment and you're in a tough situation. So I think you're entitled to feel despondent. But things will change - to be brutally honest I wonder whether things will change at the end of the year, when winter and end of furlough payments arrive. So hang on in there, you will find a good one eventually, and probably sooner rather than later. Have you got something nice to ride in the meantime? Could you find a good local place that does fun hacking so you don't feel like you're missing out a summer of riding? Very best of luck with it all.
