Losing the trust and fun with horse...any advice?

I've posted before about niggles i've had with the horse i've taken on but now i'm getting frustrated and annoyed with myself. A couple of weeks ago i was hacking out and bad timing meant that we bumped into his best friend field mate who was on his way back. As predicted when we got round two corners he napped, span in the road and i couldn't get him anywhere but back towards the yard, bearing in mind a few cars around. I made him do some schooling in the field so he didnt get away with the 'naughtyness'.

Since then i've had trouble getting him out, i've changed routes, let him walk backwards, growled, kicked him on and got upset! I've had someone walk out with me and he is fine, i don't have anyone to ride out with at the moment, so keep reling on family to come. Frustrated because i've been having lovely hacks out alone, both enjoying it. He's great in the field, schooling and to be aroiund generally and we had no problems before that day with bad timing. Any advice would be great, sorry it's long but just would love to solve this and get back to riding!

ok stop take a breath relax and chill - he met his field mate and hey wanted to join him - so hes good normally good to school - hes a horse and acting as horse trying to join his mate. concentrate on ground work do some join up - plan to ride out when field mate coming back (explain to owner) work with voice an body - on floor if ness -as i find im bettter on floor than in saddle - encourage forwrd dont let head swing to turn and praize - dont reprimand as hes being a horse encourage him to go forward- use lunging to help here and really use voice - baby listens and really takes comfort in my voice by being low to calm and high to encourage - be patient but kind and firm xx

thanks and your right, patience and encouragment yesterday i took a more friendly approach lots of speaking to him as we should be working together not against each other.
Will give some ground work a go and make things interesting so he wants to come out with me not hang around his field.
