losing winter coat

hi all ,are any of your horses shedding their winter woollies,ours started in january,most odd,

yes my mare is loosing it allot even tho on box rest i think i am wearing more of her fur than she is lol

My mare is yep. And all the chickens are laying every day too. But it probably is moulting time now in fairness. I know it's cold but it is the middle of Feb. Think mine usually start to go at this sort of time.

My mare has been shedding pretty much since december. But she still looks like a yeti so I am not sure where the hair is coming from?

Yup - Merlin started to shed about 3 weeks ago and it's now coming out in clouds! Bet he regretted that decision this morning when it was -11

Mind you, put him out in the snow nekkid this afternoon as it was so sunny and he had THE most wonderful time rolling and scratching on the ground...

Yes, I first noticed that mine was starting to moult on *Boxing Day*!!!

Coats are generally grown or shedded due to the weather but more to do with sunlight

Two are clinging onto as much fur as they possibly can, the other is getting rid of it asap!

Yup . . . coming out in handfuls now . . . as soon as it's warm enough I'm turning him out nekkid for a good roll/scratch to get rid of as much as possible. I am permanently covered in white hairs at the moment.

My 2 natives have only just started shedding a few hairs. They both live out with rugs on.

coats are grown and cast dependant on daylight hours not temperatures! it is now much lighter am and pm, so coats will start to shed.
