Loss of Use cover

I'm just about to purchase horse insurance and wonder whether I should have LOU cover. It adds an awful lot to the premium.

Pony is 11yrs mare 14.2 and purchase price is £7k. She will be used for general hacking, PC, ODE, HT XC and BSJA.

I probably would seeing as you paid so much for her. It is supposed to be so you would have enough money to go and replace them, should something happen

Depends on what she is insured for - if just general hacking, then as long as she can walk out for 30 mins that could still classify her as a general hack.

I would say eventing - then if she went lame and could no longer jump you would be able to claim loss of use as an eventer (although she would still be worth something as a general hack etc).
