Mine is! He has navicular disease/syndrome. He was de-nerved (have grown back) and was insured for riding club activities. He bimbles around the field and occasionally comes out, has bute and does some work. Why, have you got one?

Me too!! I always had it, still thought I had it, then checked my insurance policy this year when it came through and it had dissapeared. When I rang up, they said it wasnt on last year either?? My premiums didnt go down :(

My friend's horse had been deemed loss of use. She bought her from a guy who'd got her shipped from Ireland, she passed a 5 stage then shortly after when lame in front. Turns out she had a bone chip in her knee and must have been injected with cortisone to keep her sound for sale. She was operated on and now has limited movement in her knee joint - hasn't stopped her being ridden and lightly competed, until recently when she's gone lame again :(

Yes Ted is loss of use - due to collateral ligament damage...we just hack and do the odd bit of schooling...when he is sound...having shoes off tomorrow though so hopefully should help him! x

Storm had a loss of use but we never found out what it was for, we bought him at auction and brand was covered with saddle until after he was bought! He was fine to hack although we left it months before we did because he was so emaciated, the 6 mile walk to and from temporary grazing and him refusing to box sort of forced us. Do you know that legally you have no right to know what the LOU is for, nobody will tell you so you can't insure them!
