Hi guys,
H really need help with one of my horses,
Ive got a 5yo Gelding hes a welsh cob x irish draught and he seems to just pile the pounds on when hes turned onto grass, hes always been a gorger and last year he even broke fences getting to the grass but this year im really starting to worry he will get the dreaded laminitus, hes on 24/7 turnout at the moment but i have been bringing him in durin the day for a few hours, so my question is how long is it safe to keep them off grass?
I also have a 3yo native cob and it is insufferable trying to separate the two he is also putting on a bit of weight but im not too worried as he will be getting broken in a few weeks (so excited) so my other question is could i alternate them daily? e.g. Monday have horse 1 off grass and horse 2 grazing, Tuesday horse 1 grazing horse 2 off grass and so on.
please any advice would be welcome as i wouldnt like to do anything that would cause more problems.
Thanks
Scott
