My 12 week old kitten got outside yesterday (I found her in our stables a month ago as she had been dumped there). I cannot find her anywhere and have left food outside and put the content of the litter tray outide the house (I read that this is supposed to help). Has anyone got any ideas on getting her back and also whether a kitten of this age will be OK outside in this cold weather?? V worried so please help if you can. Thanks.

Is it possible someone may have found her and taken her home from your yard?
She may have wandered off, I would have a look in places such as the haystack if you have one, and any other small warm places you could think of.

All I can suggest is that you don't leave any stone unturned, looking for her ..... outhouses, stables etc ..... and leave some food and water out ..... Good Luck and I hope you find her <<< hugs >>>

Yeah thats what we have been doing. It is just our horses kept at the house so dont think anyone whould have taken her. Read somewhere that indoor kittens go into protective mode when this happens and they hide somewhere really small and dont come out for ages. Just dont know where else we can look!

We lost two kittens that were at our yard and my friend and I hunted and hunted and hunted, had no luck so we stopped for a couple of hours and once we had filled ourselves with terrible thoughts of what may have happened to them we searched again and after about another hour or so we found them happily playing in a pile of rubbish two fields away.

I'm sure she/he will be on an adventure and turn up, just keep looking, use all the wee noises and sounds they would normally hear and I'm sure they'll let you know where they are.

Good luck! (I nearly squashed ours to pieces when I found them, I was so happy to see them - but of course then prompted that with a lecture on giving us such a fright!)

Fingers crossed!

Could it have got somewhere and got stuck? Or in a shed that may have been accidentally closed behind it? Agree with everyone else, have a hunt, and listen out for any wee miaows

I lost my ferral kitten for a month when she was about 12 weeks, she came back one night when I had completely given up hope of seeing her again. Also lost my other one, found him a couple of days later shut in next doors garage, he cant miaow so couldnt hear him

We also lost one inside a book case once too, so check everywhere they really do get in the strangest places!

OK, thanks everyone. Feel a little better knowing that many of you lost your kittens and they reappeared several days later. Keep checking outside (was going to kip out in a sleeping bag but my boyfriend didn't think it was worth getting pneumonia for!). Fingers crossed he comes out tomorrow when there isn't such a howling gale outside.
