This may be a silly question, but if your horses breeding papers have been lsot can you get a new set?

When I bought him I knew nothing about his breeding (and am not bothered that much) This previous owners mentioned nothing about his breeding or him having papers. He has just a normal passport, not from a breed society.

But on contacting one of his past owners (I believe the lady I bought him from got him from this lady) she seemed shocked that I didn't have his papers and knew nothing of his breeding.

He is WB as far as I'm aware with landgraf and ladykiller lines. I know his sire is landwind. I could probably see if his old owner knows more and I believe she got him from his breeder so could always contact them.

But if I wanted copies of him papers purely out of curiousity (plus its nice to have them) is that possible?

Depending on the Studbook he is registered with:

for KWPN and BWP (and most German):
- if you can get his registered name (and or number) from his breeder or a previous owner.
- if you can get his pedigree from his breeder or previous owner
- you can appy for a duplicate paper but it's a costly thing as identity has to be proven by DNA test of horse, dam and sire.
