Hi all, looking for some advice please... my horse lost her shoe this morning. Do you think it would be okay to ride with one shoe and the other foot in a cavallo hoof boot, or should I pull off the other shoe and put the pair of Cavallos on?

"or should I pull off the other shoe" Is this a serious question ??

I certainly wouldnt pull the other shoe off if you have no experience of doing so.

For the sake your horse's hooves I think you just need a little patience and wait for your farrier.

Which hoof is it?
And what surface are you riding on?

Ideal world wait for farrier. But avoid stoney tracks. Rear one off just ride as usual, fore more hesitant just because horses feel lame. If your horse is a girly about not having a shoe on just put vetwrap across sole and then up around hoof to cushion it a bit. May seem uneven on the road so stick to school or grass.

Note nobody please tell me they wouldn't do this its up to personal preferance. My farrier told me the above basically said check there is no bruising or obvious lameness (caused by the shoe twisting before coming off) and carry on with hacking and flat work until he can get there.

Lol sorry being dim I guess putting the boot on is a rich persons option instead of vet wrap go for it!

Don't pull off a shoe unless it is loose enough that it might twist or is twisted (and get your farrier to show you when he is there so you at least have an idea in an emergancy)
