I had to remove my horses front shoe yesterday as it had slipped round and was in a very dodgy place.

Anyhow, I have a ODE (only 2'6") in less than 2 weeks time, and really need to keep working my horse - especially the dressage part! I cant get hold of my farrier today, so likely it will be a couple of days before I can get shoe back on.

I dont have a school anyway, but was thinking about just staying in the field and doing some schooling, maybe some canter work too to keep the wildness at bay!

Do you think this would be ok - he was trotting round his field yesterday, not lame on the foot, however, if I took him off the grass he would be a hobbling, pathetic heap!

i wouldn't, because if the hoof is cracked at all, then working him can widen it, and that could cause many more problems! I know its annoying!

i never ever work my horse when she has lost her shoe ( she likes to throw them once a week...lol like your horse it went round and i had to take it off and she was abit foot sore. She also lets me know when one is not right as she will start napping and truning her head into my foot. Then next day shoes gone. grrrrr she knows how to get off work. Dont help she not got best feet.
