I just had a cracking fall, first for years
All started badly anyway - went to get on and one of the dim witted liveries dog flew out of a window and I had to do a Frankie Detorri leap to stop myself being thrown onto the tarmac. So a bit shakey and hoarse from giving livery a mouthful as she has beeen told not to bring her dog as it is a nuisance, I set off for the school with the express intention of doing some jumping. Start popping over a big X and an upright of about 3ft, all good, then go to jump through a double, P goes to stop as she is looking the first (new Union Jack filler) but doesn't although we jumped at an angle then had a split second fight as I pulled her out of the double and ended up up her neck
- come back and jump it fine a few times.
On to a 3ft4 pole on blue barrels which we have jumped I don't know how many times - she flew it first time but it was on a long one, so came back and made her jump it properly, she knocked it, so put it back up and stuck my stirrups up a couple of holes...big mistake...we come again...she kinked badly to the right and I thought we were stopping/running out, weight was out, lost concentration, she jumps it and I flew off over her shoulder and landed on my head Have grazed my side and hurt my arm and have a mega headache I have an inkling that the smaller headplate may be too tight for jumping and that was making her kink - add that to the shorter stirrups and I had no chance.
Stuck them all up to about 1.20m and jumped them all and called it a day but I am so cross with myself for pushing it as I should have read her body language and kept it simple. I felt really out of synch today too and should have just kept it nice and small.
Was wearing my brand new Charles Owen skull cap - please don't tell me I need to replace it as I have only worn it 3 times
Am everso tired now too
