Lost Vaccination Record, what to do?

I stupidly lost my loan pony’s passport while he was with me. He is an older chap (23 this year) and has always been vaccinated, to the day, from probably about 4 yrs old. I have obviously ordered him a new passport and his booster vaccination has just been done again this time for the year, but when I originally phoned the vet and asked if they could sign off that he had been up to date previously they said no, I would have to go back to every vet that’s ever vaccinated him (for 19 years!) and have them sign him off.

However, today’s vet thought there was a way of them signing off that they were doing just a booster and that previously he was up to date, and that this would be enough? Has anyone done this or know about it?

He is in a new loan home now, and the girl who has him will do very low level competing and pony club, but not teams or area comps or anything – maybe camp sometime though she’s not sure. I know it’s normally camp, area comps and big riding club comps that are the ones that turn you away if your vacc are even a day out.

Any advice or experience in this? Obviously I will do whatever's necessary but need the path of least resistance and don't fancy tracing back 19 years worth of vets....

I think your vets are being a bit unhelpful if they did the previous vacs - of course they can certify from that that they are just doing a booster and previous vaccine was in date. Competitions should accept that, they don't have to say the horses vacs previous to that were in date as they are no longer relevant.

Thank you - my problem is that my vet cna only certify the last thre eyears (when i had him) - i am not sure if they can write a letter to cerify that they checked he was up-to-date until that point (and that will be enough for Pony Club) or whether i have to go back to the previous vets with the original owners too?

Three years should be fine! All they have to do is write replacement record at the top and then last years booster and this.
