My dogs are still in the kennels, and I am totally lost without them. Cant motivate myself to do anything . Now having the horses to do or the dogs makes me wonder what Im for !
I hate the house without dogs as well, must be hard to plan when the dogs are going in/staying when you didn't know 100% when everything was going to happen. Also not easy to find kennels this time of year (although I don't think English schools are out yet?).
I am back in hospital Monday, possibly having to stay in Tuesday so best they are not here as they would be alone at night.
Also kennel places hard to come by as its summer
well, they are safe and being looked after which is some consolation. could you get a doggy fix from someone else if you're feeling up to it? its not the same I know.
PL I'm sorry you can't have them with you. It's nice for them to have you put them first though. Once you're in a routine you could maybe book an advance stay for a night or two when needed and then have them home the rest of the time. If mine aren't here I find myself talking to them regardless and at a time like this you need their presence for comfort so I hope they come home soon. If you can visit the kennels it may help x
So sorry, I know exactly what you mean. I live alone with my three dogs, there would be no one to speak to when I got up in the morning if they weren’t with me. When I had a hip replacement, the hospital wouldn’t let me come straight back home and fend for myself but I only stayed away a week, then had my dogs back and friends came in to walk them. One night without dogs was enough, the house was so empty. Hope they can come home soon.
Personally I wouldn’t recommend visiting them, it could upset you and them.
Best wishes that you get through all this ASAP xx
I absolutely know how you feel...many years ago I was "between houses" for about a month, I was almost at the point of having to rehome the dogs I had then but managed to find a foster home for them (this was about 20 years ago before the rise in pet sitting services). I was totally bereft without them and the first night I had them all back with me the 3 dogs and I slept on the sofa together. The only thing I wonder is whether you could find a local pet sitting service who would do daily walks and overnight stays as and when required for you, assuming your Dr is happy for you to have them with you. Maybe once you get your initial treatment over and done with this might be an option. Also, Ive no idea whether you have dog/household insurance, are you able to claim any of these costs back?
