What is everyone’s favourite lotions and potions fo making them look good in the ring. My 2 yr old has his first inhand show soon. He is a traditional Cob with a lot of mane tail and feather. And just to add to the equation, he is coloured. So i want his white bits to be brilliant white and his black bits to be jet black. Any favourite products out there anyone particularly loves?

And also his tail is ridiculously thick, i’m not sure if i should leave it all natural or thin it out a little?

No suggestions as not had a horse with much white on it but at many shows see a coloured cob being prepared and as they move off there are four piles of chalk left behind where each leg has been done and they leave a cloud of chalk dust in their trail. When my grey horse got really bad stable or grass stains, must admit found washing up liquid the only thing to shift them. Didn't use that very often, just if he had acquired them overnight after a bath before a show.

I use a lot of Smart Grooming products on my horses, Grey, Bay and coloured.

I tend to use tesco coconut shampoo to start on my coloured and then use "Bright whites" I think that is the name of the purple shampoo. I now use smart grooming super shine on her darker bits to make them nice and shiny.

Don’t thin the tail, it’s supposed to be thick for traditionals. When I used to show mine I used Daz on feathers and tails. obviously I can’t recommend it because of the risk of irritation, but I always did a patch test and rinsed super well. Chalk is also good to use on the day.
