Firstly I apologise in advance. I was bored today and wrote a list of things that I have been wondering about for a little while. Feel free to add your own, I'm hoping someone out there will have the answers :D

Can I use tiger balm on the horse? I lost the little paper bit with the contents written on it so I can't check.

how much does a hoof grow, on average, every six weeks?

Does being out in the cold actually cause arthritis (in people?) or just aggrivate it?

Is there any proof that the string test can actually tell you if your horse is having a colt/filly? I don't suppose so, but People keep telling me like it's some sort of miracle or something :p

If a horse's tendon is literally severed in half, is there hope of recovery ? :(

Where does stockholm tar come from?

I have more, but I think those will do for now.

As for gender, for the last three years it has told me my mare is having a filly - she's had two colts, I'll tell you in May/June if it is right this time or not:)

If a horse's tendon is literally severed in half, is there hope of recovery ? :( I'll leave that to someone else:)

I have known of a horse with two severed tendons recover as much as in she is a happy sound looking field pet who seems content and ok. I've not really noticed her trot recently so don't know how sound she is myself but apparently completely. The recovery period was tho pretty horrific she was in a lot of pain and personally I'd have pts then.

Thank you, McNally. It was just something that I had been wondering about for a while. Since 'inside natures giants' was on, and you could actually see all of the bits and pieces. Did she need an operation to join it all back up?

I've got one......
If you keep a horse out at grass 24/7 how do you work out how much feed she needs? If they are supposed to eat 2.5% of their body weight per day, how do you know how much grass they actually eat, and so work out how much extra forage / hard feed they need?
(Feel free to call me stupid, if it is a stupid question!! :)

If they too fat, they eat too much! If they too thin, they not eat enough. If they just right, they eat the right amount! :)
