I was not planning to do a report but it was my first compettition of any kind since August 2019. And also I am so happy with Lottie and it's been such a fab day that I want to write it up.

Lottie was so much calmer and listening so much better than she has been recently at home, which was a weird but welcome surprise. She has been having me on with her 'oh I can't possibly balance myself and hold my own head up and what does a halt halt mean, you are confusing me" vibes. Or maybe she is bored at home and simply choosing to entertain herself during schooling sessions o_O

My trainer took her into the Prelim 7 and realised very quickly that every time Lottie was heading towards the boards she was locking on to jump them :D:D

But she gradually realised that wasn't the idea and she went very well after that. Though totally bizarrely the judge rang the bell when she walked at C to say 'you were meant to counter canter!" In Prelim 7!!
So there was about a 2-3 minute stand off with My RI saying 'I've not gone wrong, there is no counter canter in this test" and the judge insisting she was right before finally conceding that maybe it was her error. Which I just don't get at all. I mean how can you get it so wrong? But anyhow Lottie came out with a 69.54 and lovely comments. And an 8 for her first CL.

Then I went into the P13. Luckily Lottie understood boards this time and went beautifully for 67.3. Obviosuly she was nicely set up for me by the first warmup and test but I'll take it!

I am so happy with her. I am thankful beyond words that I have found another horse who I absolutely adore. I didn't set out to find an Amber Mark 2 but when I saw the ad and saw they had similar breeding I just thought 'I want her'. And she is so like Amber. Same boldness, same lovely big movement, same blend of super forward but super safe, same level headedness and non spookiness, same fabulous work ethic. Lottie is a lot saner, much more relaxing to hack and does not balloon jumps. And is a better size. So I have literally found my perfect horse in her.

Pics of our day.
