My friends horse made a loud squeeky noise while it was eating its hard feed. It made the noise twice. Now i have never heard this noise come from a horse before and wondered if anyone could help? She is waiting for the vet to come out. He seems happy and is eating his hay. She did say he had made the noise the other night but they didnt realise it had come from him. Any suggestions??

Where did the squeak come from? Voice box, mouth, chest, lungs, bum, feet, sheath? Stable door? Seriously, depending on where it came from it could be a million things. If he's 100% fine and dandy, eating well, no smelly breath, not scouring, no swollen sheath or local smelly infections, not coughing, breaths per minute normal, respiration rate normal, gut sounds normal, then I wouldn't worry about it. If any additional symptoms arise or if the horse starts to appear off colour in any way, then I'd have a word with your vet. Or oil the stable door!

Haha, thank you for the reply! It is coming from him, from his throat, chest area. But other than that he is fine, no scouring, coughing etc etc. I had just never heard of it before and wondered if someone could shed some light. Thanks again
