I want a new jacket, I'm not registered BS at the moment and I'm not buying one til after the meeting just in case but I'm just doing a bit of window shopping.

I want a bright blue one (but would consider any unusual colour- I like red but Ive not got the bottle to wear one lol) but I can't find anything reasonably cheap. I'm not bothered about a brand name, but all the none traditional ones seem to be about a million pounds. Will I get one for under £200 or have I got no chance :(

Somebody on here (can't remember who, sorry!) contacted BS about bright blue jackets, and were told they're not allowed. Don't know if this will change after the meeting though.

That was me :( although I'm hoping it will change after the meeting , the daughters been wearing it BS for about 3yrs ;)

The one she has was made for her by Le Beau Chavel, its bright blue with a red collar, but a traditional cut. It wasn't much more than £200 if I remember right & she had some blingy buttons added as an extra xx

Pikeur do some!

Personally I think, if BS wanted to stick to the rule, BS should have banned them when they first started appearing on the circuit. It's a bit like the horse has already bolted so whilst I do feel sorry for people that have paid big bucks for one they now may not be able to wear, rules are rules!!!!

Yeah, do try one on first - we looked at a lot at Windsor, and although I am admittedly a traditionalist I hated the fabric and cut!
The big shows are definitely the place to look - lots of styles and colours at Windsor, I guess Hickstead will be the next opportunity.
Sorry, I still don't think you can beat a really well cut navy jacket in a lovely lightweight wool! (and I'm not anti bling - I show western! :D )

But they did! The rule has always been there, it's just that competitors chose to ignore it and officials didn't enforce it.

But that's what I'm saying - rules are rules!

Whilst it's always been there - reminding officials to enforce it when they've allowed them for the past 4 odd years is a bit slow off the mark to be fair. It should have been clamped down on from the start - not years later! So yes they were orginally not allowed - but letting people get away with it for so long isn't banning them! :(

People should have checked the rules before they bought - end of story. Yes seeing them on everyone else isn't fair but if you don't abide by the rules expect to suffer for it! (they came out harsh sorry :o )

I think they should change the rule and allow bright colours. Sorry to take over the thread OP.

Tbf we should have checked the rules before buying. But, we first saw the colour at Scope festival, both being ridden in AND being sold there (J Van D). Nothing made us think it was a banned colour & definately not after competing in national classes at Scope, Blue Chip & POYS in it for the past 3yrs ;)

This is precisely what I mean about how they should have got officials to clamp down - if their own 'staff' which is effectively what judges etc are, aren't enforcing the rules then they're not 'banning' them properly. They should have made the effort to reinforce the rule sooner.

There was a girl competing in the young riders class a couple of years back in the really really light pale blue (like off white) at Horse of The Year Show for goodness sake! Obviously i can't say whether she registered that colour but i've seen her jumping at area trials etc in other colour jackets so I don't imagine she has registered it. So, if they allowed that at the biggest show of the year - televised to everyone - how can they pull everyone else up now?!?!

I think its a diversion tactic. Upset everyone with this so that they can slip some other rule change pass the members
