At 6.30 we bought Penfold in from the field and bathed him, plaited and set off.Got as far as the M42 and were at a standstill.Came off the next junction and tried to go xc tom tom kept saying turn round but we struggled on and got in another traffic jam.Went along the Alcester/Stratford road that has a 6'6" width restriction on[ don't tell anyone, I know I'm amongst friends]Got back on the M5 then tom tom said come off at junction 11 and took us down the most terrible, but beautiful roads,we went through a village called Camp, never again the houses just allowed the horsebox through!
Arrived in good time got him out took off boots and he looked filthy, the boots were dirty on the inside and he looked terrible. My daughter got her police uniform out and she hasn't got a posh dress uniform so had washed her fleece but had picked up a disposable nappy at the same time and washed that as well. Her jacket was covered in fluff. So dirty horse scruffy jacket,LOVELY.
He didn't go forward at all in the dressage and did a terrible halt at the end and got 39.5 .We walked the xc and thought for his first novice there were some questions but there were long routes so walked it confidently.
On to sj.He horse before us had the jumps at about 4'high and 6' wide.He just did a couple of small ones badly and she gave up.What will be will be.The horse before us must have done its best jumping outside as it got 12 faults. Penfold was a star and had just one down, really chuffed . Went to xc and in the box he was shaking. He was fabulous ,all the quick routes, jumped very big into water and pecked a bit but just loved it.1.6 time.So finished on 45.1.
He is going to do a team chase next week and then rest, glad he didn't get a point as he can still do pre novice regional next year but we know he will do it.Great
Never saw Mel85 and my phone had no signal but well done and hope to meet you soon.

That sounds like a v positive day!

Me & o/h went that exact same way with the width restriction last w'end & we tried to follow the diversion cos last time we ignored a width restriction the road was actually closed & we ended up in a road narrower than the lorry. Ended up on the M40. TomTom was no help at all. Eventually an hour and a half later we did it the old fashioned way & I read the map.

Luckily we were only picking up some windows in the lorry, not going to a comp...

Well done! I saw your daughters test - well bits of it!

Didn't look scruffy at all! That's great to just have the one down - I had 3 which was a bit annoying but she did jump well!

Sorry I didn't manage to catch up with you today - glad it went well though!

My Tom Tom tried to send me through a motorway service station to get to Trowell XC course last Sunday. Not helpful...

Well done sounds a good day with confidence still very high and still eligible to do PN. Was the 1* much different to the Novice?

That's fab, welldone

Doesn't sound like he was phased at all, You must be chuffed to have a good result under your belts for his first run at that level!

Thank you ,shame this one is not the dressage star. If he was bay I would take Rafi for the dressage and swop them, no one would know, but unfortunately he has the large white bits, shame. He was bred for dressage ,I put my coloured mare to Accord to produce him and he can move well but gets tense if you ask too much.

Thank you briming with confidence now.Not doing anymore this year but hard not to look and say 'just one more ,think he has only done 6 or 7 this year but it costs a lot and we have had a super reason.
