just seen on friend of ours site www.solland.co.uk "captain Jack Sparrow" only has one eye - Mum wants to buy him!! I rode the mum n she is lovely too! Has anyone else had foal with one eye and if so did it carry on with normal competitive career?

I know of a lovely 14.2hh cob through the pony club, Ollie. He has one eye.

Should I be in the position right now, I would buy him. I don't know whether he was always that way, but he hunts nicely and I've seen him going cross country. I don't think I have ever seen him refuse or run out and I've been to at least four clinics with him in our group.
Lovely boy.

There is a JA 14.2hh pony on the BSJA circuit that has a phenomenal jump copes really well there was also a horse that won the SSH potential showjumping seven year old and over class several years ago, awesome jump, and had fab career.

there's a pretty decent eventer who did well at 4 star level, which only had one eye. it was a bay, ridden by a foreign guy i think... sorry, can't remember the name.
afaik, it's much easier for the horse if it was born with just one eye, rather than losing it later... this way, he'll compensate automatically.
wow, just had a look at the picture... can he just jump or what! i think he's lovely, i'd buy him!
i think you just have to give them a bit more time coming sharply to a fence on that rein, obviously.

my friends cob had one eye she did everything with him from hacking to jumping he coped fine i think if they are born with it they are ajusted and no no different

it dosent stop them living a full healthy life and career

He's lovely. I wonder how much they want for him? Mind you knowing what normal foalies get up to it may not be easy in the first few years, but I bet it would be worth it in the end. Might give them a ring myself! But really I would like that one of Anastasias!!! The Filly!!! Anastasia- if you are reading this...Home for life!

Shez below are some pictures of our "one eyed lady".......Sugababe.......unfortunately she lost an eye at two weeks of age when she got a really bad facial injury........as you can see she is managing perfectly fine and I thank the wonderful support of the HHO when it all happened

. Sugababe is doing great, really pleased with her and hope she will now make a valuable addition to our breeding herd when old enough. Her bloodlines are Stedinger x Prince Thatch x Wenzel I. The pictures I took here were taken a good few weeks ago now.

Opie has also seen her and Ree (the photographer) got some super shots of both Sugababe and Pussycat for us a few weeks ago.............she is just a wee doll........

Shez - my gorgeous 20yr old Section D now has only 1 eye though he did have 2 right up until 2 years ago so perhaps not quite the same as Foalie. But just wanted to reassure you - he is the safest, kindest horse I have ever known and manages just as well with 1 eye as he did with 2. The DAY he came back from having his eye removed he was let into the school for a gentle run around. HAH! Someone had left some jumps up and he thundered round for a bit then loose jumped the jumps just for fun! This was about 6 days after the surgery! 1 eye? Easy peasy!

Robert Whitaker has a one eyed horse and in the 1930's a one eyed steeplechaser called Oxo came second in the Grand National and that was because his jockey had to take him wide otherwise he would have won.
Your foal looks a stunner!
