Pippa was pts on Friday so coming home to an empy house is taking a bit of getting used to. I got home to a lovely suprise tonight though, my vets have sent me a 'with sympathy' card with a lovely personal message inside. I just thought that was so thoughtful of them. I am not sure if this is the norm or not but it just reminded me of why I am so lucky with my vet. It is a one man practice and such a personal service!

I am a dog groomer and I do this for my clients. I learned the habit from a vet I used to work for. Another groomer I know goes the length of sending her clients flowers when pets die. It's a lovely gesture and to be honest, I was rather disappointed that my vet didn't do any such thing when I had my old girl PTS a couple of years ago.

Sorry to hear about Pippa. It's not easy to let them go. x

Sorry to hear of your loss. Never heard of any of the vets round here doing anything like that. It's very touching an kind of them. Take care. {{{{hugs}}}

Our vets did the same when we lost Barney, and it really meant a lot to us too.

I think it's such a lovely thing for the vets to do. Mine did this when one of my cats was pts last year - and I was so touched.

we lost our GSD and one of our cats this past summer and our vet was nice enough to send us condolence cards each time. It really brightened my day when I saw the card. It's a nice gesture on their part.

Our vet did this when I lost Jasper in October.

I can remember coming home, having just had him PTS, when a parcel turned up with a lovely plaited section of mane and one of Tweenie's tail from Leahurst (having lost her to complications from the drugs administered during colic surgery six days earlier). They'd also sent a little book of poetry too. I was already in a fragile state and it's fair to say it tipped me over the edge.

I haven't looked at the two sections of plaited mane and tail since. They were tied with pastel pink bows top and bottom too. I don't think I've ever seen her tail that white.
