Hoorah today I actually rode!
Having had big time bad fall beginning of Oct which damaged my back and due to ops on me and 'orse I've not ridden since. So, making much of actual dry weather I thought now is the time to see whether and how I'd actually get on with the whole rigmarole.
So got chosen steed out of his house and gave him a brush, he's 18hh so I have to stand on a crate to brush his back, it's a bit like grooming a ruddy giraffe! My baby horse was very angry as he watched me titivate his buddy and tried to pull Olivers exercise sheet off, I then found largest thing to stand on in order to get foot into stirrup and with one athletic spring, well splodge I was back in the saddle and off for what I thought would be a calm collected wonder round the block, oh how wrong was I, of course having had strong winds over the last few days there are some very scary part fallen trees and such lerking in inocuous places and bugger me even a tin roof off someones shed was hanging in a tree, it's a lovely feeling you know Piaffe, well it is when it's planned. I also had shoulder in and half pass also non planned and bounced around the whole route looking, for all the world, like a pea on a drum. Back at the yard I sigh with relief but quite pleased to have done it, baby horse, by this time, is screaming his noggin off as I have dared to leave him on his own and gone off with another horse.
I spring elegantly out of the saddle just as I forget how ruddy far down the ground is and land with that 'orrid pain in both feet. Oliver looks very smug and clearly thinks he is destined for the Grand Prix at the Olympics.
But at least I did it!!
