LOW flying aircraft

After a chinook flew rediculously low over our field we ALL(3 of us emailed them) wrote to the mod,however out of the 3 emails that were returned mine was the only one that stated if any injury to livestock(horses etc)they would fund the veterinary treatment!!I do have a copy of this letter and intend to keep it for a very long time!I did however go off on one about peoples safety and how they would replace a member of our family if he had galloped down the drive and been hit by a car etc etc,

It worked!!!

I wrote & complained because a helicopter went over my field so low that it nearly took my head off. I was schooling a 4 yo at the time, that I'd only had a few weeks.

They wrote back, but it was their standard letter saying that basically they can fly where they want, blah de blah cos their training is more important than trying not to kill horse riders.

I'm just grateful I wasn't on Cat at the time or there prob wouldn't have been enough left of me to write a letter. Grrr. You'd think you'd be safe schooling in your own field behind your own house, wouldn't you????? (We are not on any flight path or near the RAF case. They just thought they'd come over our way for a nice change of scene.)

Yes they do pay compensation if damage is caused but complainants must make note of date, time, direction helicopter flying as much detail as possible
There is the number to ring to see if there are flights in your area
Whilst we all winge about it--dont forget there are guys putting their lives on the line and they do need to practice--I know we all shout 'go and play somewhere else'
Over the years Ive been bolted with once jet coming up valley behind me, very nearly been flattened by normally sensible 13.2 shooting out of stable--very low noisy jet and had horse leap shadows on busy tarmac road when Hercules was VERY low.
Im still in one piece but am aware of a number of animals hurt--no easy solution
