Low flying helicopters today

They've been practising all day round here BUT every time they've come over, they have obviously taken action to avoid flying directly over the horses heads. Last time, they were over here, I actually emailed them to thank them and got a great reply. Have to say, the neds are now so used to them, that they don't bother at all - I think I get more worried than they do.

Judging by horse in the edge of the picture, he doesn't give two hoots!!

Good to know if you're ever out hacking and you hear one coming.

We get those really low flying, fast and deafening jets or whatever they are, used to send them all bonkers especially the yearlings but now they don't seem to mind too much. Makes me jump though as things vibrate!

Your lucky, I always have low flying jets and helicopters and I even had a rescue helicopter landing in my field at one point last year. Good job my horses aren't easily spooked.

i live in a very remote rural area and it s very busy flight path for army fighter jets, helicopters, and the huge Hercules aircrafts, im very lucky as my horse does not bother at all with them , when im out riding the jets and helicopters are actually flying below me, as we live 1500ft above sea level , it is very weird being eye level with aircrafts

We get quite a few on a regular basis and our neds completely ignore them. They sometimes go over so low you can feel the down sraught. We have more at the moment as they are practising for Culdrose Air day.

Haven't seen as many about lately! Maybe due to rubbishy weather though!

My horse is kept at a yard at the bottom of a large runway. They don't bat an eyelid when low flying passenger planes and helicopters are overhead.....however a moving blade of grass is a different matter!

Horses do seem to get used to them quite quickly. We are very near an RAF helicopter training base (Princes William & Harry are there at present) and my lot never lift their heads when helicopter go over. Hot air balloons though really spook them, and we seem to have had a lot of those recently.

My horses are like yours, completely oblivious. Mine are on the edge of Salisbury Plain Training Area so I get to dodge tanks and fast jets as well. Its good experience for them.

I had the same tonight at the yard, it was so low, bless seren was sedated so wasnt to bothered but i could see the bloody people in it as it flew directly over the four barns of stables

We are 2 miles from an airfield that has the police, air ambulance and private helicopters at, so the horses are all used to it.

The air ambulance are the worst as they sometimes circle low over our arena and xc (when a competition is on). I think they are touting for business!

Ellie is kept near an airport and doesn't bother about the planes although her owner has come off one of her other horses after it being spooked by the air ambulance flying too low. Ended up being taken to hospital in it
