Bit of a long shot but worth an ask! My cob has good strong feet and I've rarely had any issues with them (touch wood). He has just had his front shoes put back on for the summer a couple of weeks ago to cope with the increase in hacking (it's quite stony around some of our routes) and I just had a look last night at him from behind and his front heels seem to be much higher than his back ones (he is barefoot behind). Apologies for the very ignorant question but is this normal? I would say there is about an inch difference. His back heels seem very low and despite asking my farrier to take his toes a bit shorter, they still seem a bit long to me but I am no expert. I don't have any pictures (i will get some tonight) but does anyone have any images of what a "normal" back heel and hoof should look like vs a low heel and long toe. He has arthritis in his hocks and general issues with moving properly through his back end from what i suspect is a good few years having a compensatory gait and leg position before I got him so I just want to make sure I am doing everything I can for him..

Thanks!
