I'm considering a new bridle in the next couple of months, perhaps in the 40 - 70 pound region, thereabouts.

Any comments on GFS bridles? Or any other brands in that region?

Thank you.

I have a shires bridle too, a grackle with comfort head piece and snap hook cheeks, it was only £50. Its very nice!

I bought a GFS yesterday, about £45, but when I got home and had a good look in daylight I was pretty unhappy about the quality, the leather feels stiff and dry, and the colour looks like it's been sprayed on, badly. I'm taking it back......
In the meantime, as I needed something quickly, I popped into Robinsons this morning and bought a Collegiate bridle, about £70 I think, and the quality just feels so much better.

Have a look at evision equine. I am so so impressed with the quality of mine for the price. Real top end quality leather.

As above: GFS do make some good bridles but the Advantage Range is their budget range & the leather is poor. It soon loses it's shine & gets to look old & tatty quickly. I've had one in the past & wouldn't waste my money on them again.

we use collegiate at work for eventing flatwork and jumping, i really like these bridles, they clean up lovely and last really well. it is what i shall get for mine when she is a bit older (less distructive).
my boss bought a keiffer bridle and saddle earlier this year and i was shocked by the poor quality, the bridle tore when i was cleaning it after it had been worn about 8-10 times it cost about £220

I bought a heritage comfort 8 years ago.. I've used it on all my horses several times a week since and it's still good quality, soft and fits well..

I'll go for that again in future if this one ever gives out..

Have a look on the Mole Valley Farmers site (sorry, no idea how to add a link) they have John Whitaker bridles all under £40. They are excellent quality.
