Low on funds

Ok so I don't have a horse and usually have lessons once a week, however I am so skint at the minute I can't afford it, so I am wondering if I should just wait until I can afford lessons every week or get lessons whenever I can do. I was also thinking of changing RS cos I called and said I wouldn't be having lessons for a couple of weeks but would be back after that and they put someone else in at my time. I could understand that if I said I was never coming back. So I was thinking of having a break for a bit and then when I can afford to have lessons every week go to another RS aswell.

What do you guys think?

No riding school would hold your lesson time open just for you for ever and ever, unless you paid for that lesson time. When i was having regular lessons at my RS, i made a point of booking that slot for as many weeks in advance as I could, but on the weeks I couldn't make it, i obviously let them know and they were always able to book someone else into "my" slot. That's business. If they don't have paying customers, they don't make money.

Will your school not allow you to book lesson times several weeks in advance? That way you could have had your little break, but know that you had a lesson slot to go back to.

To answer your original question, I would have lessons as and when you can afford it, and then you can go back to regular lessons when finances improve a bit. That is, of coruse, unless you want a complete break from riding ! If you are not happy with the RS generally, though, i think you should start looking for another RS.

Yes but they still couldn't hold it open for you on the off chance. Why not do as the previous poster suggested and book a lesson for 3 weeks time, or further ahead if you don't think you will have the funds by then? That way both sides will be happy as you will have "your slot" and they will have a paying client in it.

In the meantime, could you ask them about perhaps working on the yard for a few hours in exchange for cheaper lessons etc?
 
WHat about booking a regular fortnightly or monthly lesson in that slot ? Its not as much fun as going weekly, but at least you'd get SOME horse time, at a time you can manage, and it would be less expensive.
