Can anyone give me a clue as too what you would feed for a low protein diet?

So far the lowest protein feed I can come up with is Mollichop hoofkind. Any other suggestions?

How low does it need to be? Most of the 'lami' safe feeds are relatively low i.e. Happy Hoof (8%), High Fibre Cubes (10%), Speedi Beet (10%).

Something like a Spillers Cool Mix is also faily low at only 10.5%

ETS: Friendship Estates have a comparison of chaffs on their webpage - lots of low protein (6.5% same as Hoofkind), but high in other stuff you may not want

Any grains or oils of anysort contain protein so would not be suitable, which leaves grass and hay.

Interesting that you are after a low protein diet - very unusual what problems are you having?

Fast fibre is very low in protein 7%.
Horses normally need around 9% protein and youngstock or lactating mares 12% so 7 is low. It's for laminitic types :).

Oil contains protien????!!!! Swooon... *thud*

As far as I am aware... carbs (sugars) are the thing to avoid for lami, not protein. I feed my lami loads of protein. He too has liver problems... but maybe not the sort that needs low protein.

OP, find a feed with oat/straw chaff. Super high fibre and super low protein... but won't low protein give rise to muscle soreness?
