I need to get some condition on my section A but he has some sweet itch so I want to keep sugars to a minimum especially as he is currently on steroids so that rules out putting him on good grass at the moment as lami is such a risk

I'm currently feeding him just a handful of high fibre nuts, non molassed chaff and micronised linseed really just to get his tablets and supplements in to him

Does anyone have any ideas on what I can add to his feed especially since he will now start a bit of walking in hand to get some muscle on him

Thank you for reading!

Useful post - I have a sweetitch and barefoot 22yr old pony who I am thinking might need a bit of a helping hand over the winter. He gets linseed, alfalfa and molasses free chaff, kwikbeet and handful of grass nuts plus balanced mins and vits, biotin, brewers yeast and mag ox. What else can i add which will add condition but no has no sugar and isn't a mush (the reason he has handful of grass nuts is to give him the crunch, he won't eat feed without them) so this rules out fast fibre etc. would straight barley be good? Or oats?

Spillers and i think Dodson and Horrell do conditioning cubes but i dont know what the sugar levels in them are

Or just try some high fibre cubes instead of fast fibre

Live oats, condition without sugar or fizz to add to what you feed already :)
