Can anybody recommend a low sugar carrier feed for a horse with PPID but also an oat allergy please? He can't have things with oat straw in them so stuff like Top Chop Zero and HiFi is out. He doesn't like Alfa A Molasses Free. I'm going to try him on Speedibeet but generally he prefers it with other things.

It needs to be reasonably easy to get into the feed shop or available by mail order.

Thanks for any suggestions, it's difficult as he's quite fussy!

agrobs.
aspero/leichgneiss (sp!) chaff.
weisencobs if you want to soak.

Was a complete game changer for mine, used to feed the aspero, doesn't have great teeth anymore so use the weisencobs and they last ages :)

or emerald green's meadow magic.

IMO yes, so long as the combined sugar/starch is <10%

Scrap the leichtgneiss suggestion that has oat straw I didn't realise sorry!
and the aspero and weisen are slightly over, I wonder if they have done some recent analysis as sure they weren't before!
meadow magic 9.5

I treat my oldie as metabolic and we only really stick to the wiesencobs because he will eat anything in them and he doesn't have much. He does eat meadow magic too.

What's his weight like? copra always another option for ppid.

Thanks for the additional suggestions. His weight is okay but he definitely doesn't need to gain any so I think Copra would be out.

Did you find yours ate Pink Mash okay? The lady in my local tack shop said those who try it don't tend to stay on it.

everything I've fed it to loves it, including the current ridiculously fussy creature. Key flow will send you a sample out and its worth doing as some don't like it.

Thank you, I've ordered some Meadow Magic nuts and some alfabeet to try and a sample of the Pink Mash. He turned his nose up at beetroot powder when Forageplus suggested I try that so definitely a good idea to try a sample of the pink mash first!

Thank you, I just looked at their website and they have some great looking stuff - I really like the look of the timothy hay and haylage too. Sadly though it looks like they don't have any stockists in my area so probably won't be able to get it :(
