My shetland has tested positive for cushings a few weeks ago. Vet told us to put her on 1/2 a prescend pill daily (my 13.2hh has cushings also but and is on the usual 1 pill) however she had really bad diarrhea on it and seemed very unhappy so vet told us to take her off it and she's much happier again, so he's now said he thinks it was too high a dosage so we're to try 1/4 of a pill. Now, these pills are already tiny, they snap easily into 2 but trying to cut them into 1/4's isn't easy and isn't an exact split. Does anyone know if I can get Prescend in a lower dose??

My lad is on 1/4 a tab a day, and I had the same problem, so vet advised 1/2 tablet every other day and this works well

Mine was on 1 and 1/4 what I did was using a fruit/veg knife, after snapping the pill in half, grip the half carefully and saw with the knife length ways across the pill and it cuts in half really easily! But you have to remember to saw not chop/press!

Thats nothing, my boy has 1/8 pill! He had happily been on a low dose of pergolide for years, and now we cant get it, my vet worked out the converted dose. So he suggested 1/4 pill every other day and see how we got on, but I was reluctant to 'rock the boat' so i use a little sharp knife and chop it into eigths, no problem :D
