Hey, just about to venture into the wonderful world of LR with our new sec A and 6yo daughter. He's only about 11hh, do LR ponies tend to be full up 12hh? Will his height be a disadvantage?

You are more likely to get away with a smaller pony with a tiny jockey on board.
I had an 11hh sec A who did well at BSPS area shows and County level but I wouldn’t have bothered with HOYS or RI qualifiers because of her height.
It should be the overall picture that matters really but mine did look noticeably small in the line up.

You will be fine at local level. Ok at county but I'd be looking for a bigger Welsh if you want to do HOYS/RIHS qualifiers.

Thanks guys, definitely don’t want to go as far as hoys/ri quals but would be lovely to have a bash at county level. He’s only just been started so daughter hasn’t actually sat on him yet, she’s a tiny six so I reckon the overal picture will be spot on.

He’s only 4 so might get a little more height over winter, we’ll see. He’s very immature still but unfortunately my daughter will probably start to look too big on him when he grows into himself in a couple of years. We’re not mega competitive though, it’s just a bit of fun.
