I have just bought the horse i've had on loan for over a year now, from his owner.

She is getting married in 6 weeks time, has invited me to her hen do and evening bit of wedding.

Soooo I had a thought cross my mind that maybe i would get one of the ned's shoes cleaned up / polished up and give it to her a good luck thing .....

Have I totally lost the plot?
Where do I start with getting it cleaned / polished?

Aw no that's a lovely idea! You could probably clean it yourself, good old washing up liquid or something? Not sure. But yeah, lovely thought

Mum did me one of these for my wedding. Unless it's a new one & therefore already shiny - just a really good wash and scrub should do the job with a possible spray of silver paint if necessary!
And don't forget some ribbons (her wedding colours if poss).

Give it to you farrier, he'll bung it in his oven, bush it all up and it will be like a new one. If he's a good farrier like mine he could make something out of it. I had some of my old shoes made into a wine rack!!!!!!

Oh you guys are brilliant, it sounds really "do able". Ned being shod next thursday - so will collect up the shoes / ask farrier and if he laughs at me, i'll go the DIY / cola route

Farrier wont laugh at you. You need to ask him to fire it, and they you need to wire brush it until it is cold, this is how you get the shine on them

Good luck, let us know how you get on, i think it's a really good idea, i wish i had thought of it for a friends wedding i went to last year she would have loved it.

ahh what lovely ideas

I wonder if you could get his name (neddy) engraved into them too? or their name (as in the happy couples!)

Aw, that sounds like a lovely idea.
For Christmas my mum had a doormat made up of all my neds shoes for me by the apprentice who was doing a spell with our farrier, it's certainly got the unique touch about it
