I finaly got the video of Lucy doing dressage to music to upload onto you tube. She is very naughty when doing dressage as she hates it with a passion. This time she flatly refused to enter the school and had to be led into the arena.

All i can say is thank god it's dressage to music.
The vid is not the best quality as i recorded it on my camera from my telly but you get the general idea.

We some how managed to still come 5th though so it's not all bad

. Please no cc on my riding i am fully aware of all the faults and i have had dressage trainers ride her who all refused to ride her again as she makes you ride like that.

Dare I ask, if she hates dressage so much why do you do it??

Well on a good day and when she wants to play she does very well.

The trouble is you don't know when those days are.

We do abit of everything. She loves jumping but i hate it. I jump for her so she does dressage for me

I think the fact she is shaking her head even before you start says it all. You can almost hear her saying "OH NO, not dressage to music again"

Thanks thats the frustrating thing she can go well. But at 20 years old i don't think she'll ever change now.

Little Richard Maxwell tip that might help (practice in a safe area first!). If she won't go forwards slide your hands up the reins so that you have about a foot of rein held in one hand. Use that bit of rein like a wip-wop rope, ie slap it from side to side on her neck, with meaning if necessary! The surprise alone should give her something to think about. Gorgeous girl though, and well ridden x

Thanks for the tip. Sadly it's been tried. We've tried everythin i have a schooling whip and spurs on during the test. In a dressage lesson once she made the instructor roll on the floor laughing because she wouldn't canter so the instructor told me to give her a sharp slap with the whip to shock her into going forwards but it didn't work Lucy stopped dead and stood there with a look as if to say do that again and i'll kill you. The instructor said she had never seen a horse that stopped when you smacked it. The trouble is Lucy was beatern in the past and is imune to being smacked unless you do it to much then she'll just buck you off

. We just have to except some days she doesn't want to play I don't mind she keeps me on my toes and gives everyone a laugh.
