Last Thur i noticed a small flat, roundish swelling, about 1.5inches, infront of my mares belly button (I doubt its called that but it best explains it :p ). It definantly was not there on Wed as i was cutting cat hairs from that exact spot. Anyway there was a few little cuts on it so i thought id give it a few days as it may be a bite/sting, there was also a wee lump ontop of her quarters at the same time which is still there. She is rather thin skinned and has came up with a lump like this before on her side, it went away after a week or so. So we have been riding her as normal etc but today the swelling is bigger. I "think" she may have gotten cast last night as there are scratches on the walls, a scratch on her face and on the side of her hock and her bed was slightly messier than usual. The swelling is now larger (still flat not a lump) but a new swelling now to the right which is more of a bump but not a solid swelling more a flabby one!! If that makes sense! I woundnt like to think its a hernia as shes as bright as a button, completely normal and doesnt flinch when you poke it etc. Fresh poo and normal pee etc By now shes usually been rode and out in the field but have just kept her in and done nothing with her to see if it goes down. Anyone any ideas of what may have caused it? I dont know weather to get the vet out or not
