Sparks was kicked last week and apart from a couple of superficial cuts on stifle and fetlock seemed fine. Well I haven't been down for a couple of days, as working 12hrs shifts (don't worry she isn't left, she is looked after by a friend). Today I noticed a hard lump just below her hock joint, on the outside of her leg. There is not heat and she isn't lame, so I have assumed it is a fibrous lump from where she was kicked last week. I have clayed it tonight, but is there anything else I can do to help it come down?

Should have added that I cold hosed it (even though there was no heat) before I clayed it . Thought it was worth a try as need to get it down ASAP, before it becomes calcified and a permenant feature.
Why do they always have to get kicked on boney bits?

This is a kick that happened to my girl 14 months ago and has just started to cause problems, the fibirous lump has started to aggrevate the ligaments and tendons around her hock joint (been scanned) she has been having laser and ultrasound treatment to break it down. I'm sorry i can't really offer much more advise but maybe cold hosing might help keep any swelling down, but through my experience with my girl i would definatley keep an eye on it. Is there a cut there too or just a lump?

Her lump is about in line with the top of the bandage in the 1st pic (so I guess a bit lower than yours, assuming yours was kicked in the middle of the clipped area). There is no cut in that area at all (minor cuts on stifle and fetlock). She hasn't been lame at all, although the leg did fill initially (but she swells immediately with any cuts however minor, so I expected that). This boney/hard lump has appear as the filling has disappear (unfortunately its probably been unnoticed for a couple of days, as I haven't been around). She is no longer out with this play mate, who fortunately doesn't have shoe, as it would probably have been worst.

dont know, sods law i suppose, Rio managed to run in to the water trough (sometimes i wondered if she did actually have a brain) and had the biggest lump on the front of her cannon bone, just before someone was coming to try her, she was sound too, and cold hosed it for a week and it eventually went down, also think arnica gel is good, cant do any harm

ets:think thats what it was, but may have been something else beginning with A
