not sure if many will remember but in about May time Rocky suffered from choke and went for an endoscopy but nothing was found in the oesophagus or anywhere else, and she did have a really good look. He did have a little lump in his throat right at the top where the glands are, under the skin but not actually in his oesophagus. The vet had a look at this and said she didnt think it was anything bad tho. He has been having soup to eat ever since as we didnt know the cause of the choke. I noticed tonight he was trying to rub his throat where this lump is on the fence post, so it seems a little itchy and i think it may be bigger than before.

It is a moveable lump and feels rather soft. The lump is on his right side only.

Any ideas what to do? He doesnt actually seem in any discomfort at all and can still eat his soup and a carrot/apple fine.

Thyroid maybe ? I would get it checked out. My sister's boy was diagnosed with a goiter on his thyroid gland at Christmas, but he was also checked out to make sure it wasn't a tumour (although most are benign apparently).

He was bit poorly at the time, went from being a really good doer to skinny as presumably the slight thyroid issue has changed his metabolism, but now we have adjusted his feeding regime to that of a poorer doer, he is doing really well and looks fab. Vets in the end just said that unless the lump gets any bigger and interferes with his vocal cords, to leave alone, as it is not causing any other problems, as the thyroid problems aren't anywhere near bad enough to cause him problems.

He is apparently very young to get this type of problem (he's 10).

Rocky is only 10 too. His general condition if anything is actually better, he is an ideal weight and is generally in really good condition and really happy in himself.
When we had all the choking problems (back in May) was when i first discovered this lump and just as your vet said, i was to just keep an eye on it. Now, i dont know if it just seems bigger cos i havent looked at it for a while, or if in fact it is the same size.
i think i will call the vet out mid next week to look at it, if anything just to put my mind at ease.
thanks for your response tho - its always really interesting to hear other people's take on things. i will let you know what the vet says! fingers crossed nothing bad eh
