Hi all,
Would anyone be able to suggest anything to reduce a lump left after a kick on my yearlings hind leg? I had the vet out to check it out when she first had it, but now that the swelling has gone down there is a hard lump under the scab, which is quite obvious when viewed from behind. Would massaging the lump help to disperse or is it likely to be permanent? It would be such as shame if it's permanent she has such slender legs and it is quite obvious. Obviously the priority was that the injury wasnt serious, but i would like to reduce the size of the lump if at all possible.

All suggestions welcome

You could speak to your vet and ask if 'Compagel' would help.

It's an anti-imflammatory with added Heparin to increase blood flow, my vet has prescribed it for my two year old who's popped a splint after a kick, it seems to be working well.

Massage some vaseline or baby oil into it twice a day and bandage it overnight / during the day... even a brushing boot over it should be sufficient... keeps the scar tissue moisturised and should reduce it. I feel for you. My youngsters legs are covered in scars... I only tested this trick on his latest one and it does seem to have helped take it down.
