Lump on back

My mare has what started off as a very small spot on her back, just under the rear panel of her saddle. I didn't think anything of it, and rode her as normal on Sunday. It has now come up as a lump around 5cm diameter, and raised a couple of millimeters. It is quite sensitive and warm to touch. I have been putting some cooling gel with witch hazel and arnica on it, but didn't know if that was the best thing to do. Someone suggested putting kaolin poultice on the area.

Anyone any ideas?

Thanks!

May be a bot fly grub emerging...
All you can do is watch and wait, but for now I wouldn't ride without getting first your saddle checked to ensure the padding hasn't sort of rumpled up and is causing a lump.
Avoid pressure by making a thick numnah with a hole cut out over the lump if you must ride, but if it's coming to a head it may be very painful to do so.
